Stereo Upgrade
 

Hi all, am sure this has been ask before, does anyone know if we Volvo can upgrade the high performance sound to the Premium Sound or Harman kardon. and how much do there charge ? Or is worth it. i like my music and like good sound, the one of my reasons why I brought a Volvo. i was thinking buying the S60 2016 to replace my current S80.

It's never impossible if money's no object!!
Replacing the speakers with the better quality ones in the Premium system would be good start and simple.
Adding the upgraded amp and centre speaker will require a software install for the car to recognise you are going from a 4 way to a 5 channel system. That bit might prove tricky for a Volvo dealer as they rarely, if ever will do such installs.
What year S80 are we talking about?

You could even consider just replacing the speakers with better aftermarket units.

From what I understand, the speakers that come with the High Performance system aren't very efficient and, from my own experience, aren't particularly musical.

I have to do a bit of fiddling with the bass, treble and equaliser to get a halfway to decent sound in my 2014 V70 with High Performance sound and I know that I could do much better.

When money allows, I'll be replacing the speakers with some aftermarket units that are more efficient and that'll, hopefully, have paper cones. That would give me an uplift in both quality and power straight away.

Then I'd have to see whether or not the doors start to rattle........
