Bulb upgrade?

Hi all

I would like to upgrade all the front bulbs on my V50 to Osram night breakers. I have been looking on ebay and they always vary in price and wondered if they were all the same i:e, are all H7 dipped, HB3 high beam & H11 fogs compatible as some of the ads are for certain makes! Basically, is a HB3 just a HB3 if that makes sense?

Many thanks as always for any replies.

As long as it's the same bulb type (H4, H7, H3 ect...) you'll be fine

Many thanks dew1911, i thought it must be but sometimes they try to confuse people by saying they are for certain makes! Thanks again.

Your better off replacing the H11 fog light bulbs with modified H9 bulbs as the H11 are 35w and the H9 are 65w

Or try buying 55w H11 bulbs instead, saves any messing around and butchering of bulbs

The bulbs say they draw 55W but output 100W, does this mean they will get very hot as worried about the plastic headlamp lenses?

Any advice?

Yes, they are talking **** about 100w output.

As for getting a H11 55w, it still won't have great output as they have a cap on the end of the bulb.

Ok thanks guys for the advice, gonna go with nightbreakers in my main head lights ie: dipped & main/high for the moment. couldn't find nightbreakers with H9 fitting so may experiment with the 2 types mentiond (H9 adapted & Mtec) to see how they fair? Many thanks again.
