Nexen and Toyo Tyres opinion please
 

Hi, has anyone had any ACTUAL experience of either of these tyres please and if so were they ok or dire. Many thanks.

My 07 currently has Goodyear Ultragrip SUV tyres fitted year round and they have been very good but are coming to the end of their serviceable life.

Dont know if this is any help, and I appreciate its not about the actual tyre you mention, but I ran Nexen N'Blu 4 Season on our Clio, initially they tyres seemed very good, but after about 2mm of wear and 8k miles tbh, they were shot, no grip and aquaplane central ... never felt so nervous driving the car, bit the bullet and purchased Vredestein quatrac 4's car was transformed and remains so on the same tyres.

Had Nexen tyres on my previous S80 and they were shocking, no grip, noisy and tramlined and as stated they would aqua plain at the merest hint of water.

They were new in the car when I bought it and covered just over 10k and needed replacement. Paid for Eagle F1’s all round from Asda.com at £30 a corner more and they were still on the car with load s of tread left after 25k.

Hi. When I was in UK my Volvo specialist put 2 Nexens on my old 850 T5 during a service. Never had an issue with them.

Currently have 4 Nexen n’priz4s all-weather on my V70 (170hp). Fitted in March 2015. 27,000 miles in, the fronts are just about due, rears have loads left on them.
No concerns from me with Nexen.

I have experience of the Nexen boots, not the Toyo. Ran them on my MK2 Sportage 2.7. Went Geolandar after that, and while the wear rate wasnt much different the grip in poor conditions was a different league.

I won't be using them again. Indifferent grip and wear. Not actually bad, but just not quite good enough to justify going to the cheaper end of the spectrum. I wouldn't use them on my 90 - if I couldn't afford the proper rubber on that then I shouldn't have such an expensive car.

Dealer put nexens on xc90 before purchase -grip seems ok but very noisy!
will be changing after a bit more use!

I can afford to fit whichever tyre brand I wanted thanks very much and I certainly don't skimp on maintenance.

The simple question was, had anyone any first hand experience of these PARTICULAR two tyres.

I am wanting some all terrain tyres on the XC90 and the Toyo's actually get very good reviews but first hand experience on the same vehicle as mine would be useful.

I have just replaced 2 nexens that had come with the car. They were brand new tyres fitted by the previous owner.

They were decent tyres in the outset, but as they wore down, the lack of grip was noticeable.

They still had 4mm tread left, but the reduced grip in the wet, was alarming.

Replaced with goodyear wranglers, to match what i put on the rears. Cant fault them.

And the answer was YES I HAVE, AND THEY'RE NOT TERRIBLY GOOD ON A BIG HEAVY AWD CAR. Clearly you can't afford decent rubber or you wouldn't be entertaining Nexen in the first place.

What's with all the SHOUTY? Do you think we can't read or do you just like patronising people? For what it's worth, research into the matter has shown that such tactics actually make it LESS LIKELY that your message will be read and understood, so WHY do you do it?
