Poor Fuel Consumption S40/v40 Td - Possible Solution

Hi guys, this is the first time ive posted a thread on a forum since my old evo 8 days. the second car to my evo has been an 97 S40 td which ive got to admit has been fanstastic and soo reliable. But i noticed that up untill a about a year ago the fuel consumption hasnt been so good. I almost put it down to the mileage 150k... However, i noticed today totally by chance after servicing> theres a constant drip of fuel coming from the under side of the injector pump to the right. Looking at the engine from the front and looking between the end of the injector pump and where the oil filter is fitted, I can see drops of fuel leaking down just catching the left side of the oil filter. theres nothing noticeable feeling he underside of the pump and its fairly solid with no obvious connection or pipes. This would certainly account for the poor fuel cosumption whch ive been getting and which others seem to be getting. Does anybody know whether there are any obvious places on undersdie of the injector pump it could be leaking from and/or is removing the pump a dificult job to do? does it involve removing the belt?

This is definatley worth checking out if your S40/V40 diesel has poor fuel consumption. We should be getting around 400 plus miles from a tank of diesel, not 300...

Hope to hear from anybody with any ideas...

Cheers

MIKE
