LPG fed into intake manifold?
A basic question..can a small bottle of Lpg with a long rubber hose gas pipe be fed into the exposed inlet manifold and held there by hand. Obviously car will be stationery. Will the engine start when turning over on the Key same way as one starts with easystart.
Before I try it.....IS THIS CRAZY AND DANGEROUS with gas swirling around engine bay? |

Thanks for that. But would would the engine start as surely it's just gas being sucked in although with no control?

You will end up freezing your hand and getting far too much gas out.
There is a pressure reducer that has to be heated to do that job in a cart LPG system. If you blow yourself up and die, please post the pictures on here ;-) Better off trying starter fluid or brake cleaner instead, if you want to test an engine... |
With a bit of trial and error you'd get the stoichiometric ratio near enough for the engine to run. Back in the '70s a friend of my father had a Ford engine in his garage connected to a large alternator to run his household electrics during the regular power cuts that were a feature of British industrial relations back then. The carb was still in place, however the fuel came from a pipe feeding in gas from his household mains via a valve which allowed him to set the 'mixture'. He started it up to show me and, to the young me, it seemed to start and run fine!

Can be done, search YouTube, I seen some videos where people doing it. That's the dates way to do it

Darwin Award stuff:
Of course it'll work, get the stoichiometric ratio roughly right and it'll run... Me? I say go ahead. Do a video. Keep us posted. This has the makings of the most entertaining thread ever, the 'toolless' on the old LPG forum. I see an upside, as long as you've not already bred, the gene-pool can only improve. |
