Occasional flashing Immobilizer Light

Alright, I’m getting very annoyed at my V40. I’m regularly getting a flashing immobilizer light when attempting to start the car. When this happens engine will not turn over. Eventually if I turn ignition on and off enough times it will start but it’s only a matter of time before I get stranded somewhere.

Has this happened to any of you?

So far I have:
1- cleaned contacts on ECM and immobilizer midlife
2- replaced immobilizer module with a used on from wreckyard
3 - unplugged replugged all ecm connectors to make sure all snapped back in.

Any suggestions?

also replaced CEM with a wreckyard version...no difference.

Replaced the immobilizer ring today...time will tell. I would have replaced that first but for whatever reason I did not think the ring could be replaced separately on the V40. We’ll see how I fair.

Beware it will only get worse and of course it won't start at the worst possible time, likely when your partner needs to get somewhere really fast. That's how luck goes when you own an old car that only YOU have grown fond of.

Day 3...no flashing immo light...dare I declare success?

still not flashing light...I'm declaring success!!!! Immobilizer ring, it was!
