Taking Aircon pump out

Hi, I recently bought a 2001 V70, the eng is 2.4, sounded good but aircon pump seized and snapped the aux belt after a short while.
I decided not to replace pump just get a shorter belt.
I have had no luck obtaining and official part number for the shorter belt, am I going to have to measure with string and buy a selection of belts until i find a good fit?

I would make an educated guess at this one --> https://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/V...ff028ec&000108

6 rib x 1256mm.

This is for a Ph1 V70 without aircon, to the best of my knowledge the 2.4 engines used the same belts regardless of model they where fitted too.

Hope this helps

OKso the picture is my routing for belt, not possible to re-route and run without the aircon

That belt is for the pre ME7 engine, that just had a shorter route on none a/c cars.
It only has ribs on one side. The later ones go a different route and are ribbed both sides, as the alternator rotates the opposite way round on later cars .

Also if your car is the newer shape V70 ( going by 2001)then this is the wrong section. As this is for the classic shape ones( 850 type) up to 2000 model year.

For your car with out air con it uses the same belt, but has an idler bracket and idler roller.
You may be able to order the parts from Volvo.
But I would suggest the cheepest way would be to get a second hand compressor. And leave the pipes and wires disconnected so it just acts as a pulley.

But if you want air con then it will need doing properly.

There's a by-pass kit available (or was) - it's an idler pulley that fits in place of the air-con pump. Stupidly expensive from what I remember.
Pulled from a Swedespeed thread that I saved years back:
a/c delete plate #1270598
idler# 9458470
bolt # 988185
bolt cap# 9125572

Is it the pump that's seized or the pulley clutch? It was the clutch on mine - a pain to change without the correct puller and as the system was dry I just fitted a 2nd hand ebay pump.

They are the same numbers I have on Vida.

Your picture shows the non A/c bracket and idler.
