Volvo C30 - Not accelerating properly

Good evening,

Since today that my Volvo C30 has begun to have this serious symptom:
While I'm driving normally, when I change the gear (example: from 4th to 3rd gear), the car accelerator stops responding even though the engine stays on (stepping on accelerator does not increase speed or RPM) and the car does not shows any light on the panel / fault message at that time, but soon after going with the gearbox to neutral all panel lights come on. The car continues to run and the engine runs but does not respond to the accelerator and therefore loses speed if it is a climb or plain.
At this moment while still driving in the highway I switch off and I turn on the car with the keys and everything is normal, the car again responds to the accelerator.
It happened to me 3 times today for the first time in the life of the car (almost making 200,000 km).

Can anyone see what's going on here? What will be the problem? Any faulty parts? Software?

Thank you all!

Hi,

What engine in the car?

Hello,

That has happened to my C30, the 1.6D.

In my case the EGR was stuck open, putting it into "limp mode" which sounds like what you are describing there - especially how you could restart the car and it is normal again.

Which is your engine? Any other symptoms?
