Hi, my S40 T4 is 1.9L of the year 98. My question is, is it P1 or P2?

Definitely Phase 1. Phae 1 is from 1996 to late 1999/begginiing of 2000. Then for a few months there were models with bits from both Phase 1 and Phase 2 models, which we unofficially refer to as Phase 1.5. Then from about mid 2000 and until 2004 are the Phase 2 models.

The only thing that will be different on your T4 compared to the other phase 1 models, is that your most probably has the twin lens headlights, like on the Phase 2 cars. The twin lens headlights were introduced on the Phase 1 T4 only and were then used on all other Phase 2 models.
