Alternatively, please use the search function or Google. And in any case the answer is a resounding NO you need a subscription to Volvos servers to gain access to the downloads. https://www.volvotechinfo.com/index....ida.thisIsVida |

- Sorry i thought that clone DiCE were accepted as being "OK" - As a casual home fiddler theres no way I'm going to get a genuine one - at least not for a car that cost £500! - as a side note i wonder how many volvo's are still on the road as a result of Vida & DiCE being available outside of the dealer network? - I Know in my case the car i have (v70 2.4t SE) would have been scrapped with only 66k on the clock! as it needed an ETM, & couple of sensors & Exhaust when i bought it... the seller told me it was going to cost £1500+ to repair Steve |

They are not a good date - Greased me up & aimed for penetration would be an understatement! - £7000+PA for Vida & the hardware comes in at £1000+... at these prices even small / medium indys are squeezed.... "We wont supply it to home mechanics as most of them dont understand how modern cars work"... I then proceded to explain the shortcommings of the volvo ETM, He's reply - If there duff we just clean e'm or change e'm mate... I say Long Live Clone DiCE & all who sail in her. Rant over Steve |
Air Bag Replacement
I have recently been informed that same makes of vehicles that are 10 years old require complete replacement of air bags. Is this true?

I don't think the cloned Dice units are frowned upon as such...but cloned or otherwise, a subscription is required. Whether or not a cloned unit is capable of delivering a software update, I don't know, but they appear to be exactly the same units as the ones the dealers sell, so I guess it would. It is possible to get a one-day subscription if you had a load of software you needed all in one go. To be honest, it's probably easier (and possibly cheaper!) to get a tame dealer to do it. The tricky part is finding a tame one. My local refused to spend 5 minutes reprogramming my remotes without charge (the next two nearest said they'd do it for free), and didn't return two calls about when they could charge me. Charming!
