Fuel filter changed but now no start

Hi. I decided to change the fuel filter on my 2014 V40 D2 as it was stuttering with no power etc. Besides it needed a change anyway. So, after removing old filter and replacing I turned ignition on 5 times (to prime) the filter but now the car will no longer start and just turns over. I`ve tried this few times but no luck. What is the correct and best procedure to prime this car after a filter change? Thanks

If your car is the 1.6 D2 which on a 2014 I think it will be you need an inline hand primer to prime the system.

If it is the 2.0 D2 which I don’t think it is as it will have started by now you are doing the correct thing. Late 2014 onwards saw the introduction of Volvos 2.0 units.

Did you fit a genuine volvo fuel filter with the blue dot on top? Its a special high capacity one and it will block up again before it's due to be replaced ....

Briliant. I`ll give that a go i.e adding a bit of fuel to that pipe. Fingers crossed. :tongwink:

Nope. A UFI FUEL FILTER - IN-LINE one from GSF. £24. So original parts are no good for this job?

I always bought the Ford filter. Just the same as the Volvo one. As pictured in my thread.

All other brands seemed to be just the bottom half so you had to split the original and put the black plastic bit onto the new metal filter bit at the bottom.
Or if it was a whole unit, it was a cheap branded one and those parts put me off when it comes to things like fuel filters.
