Update V40 MY15

At least I think it's called MY15 or perhaps MY14.5?

Anyway, Volvo will not only offer optional factory fitted 19" wheels to the V40 R-Design but also Paddles, new VEA engines for D4 and T5 + new 8-speed Geartronic.

Engine data below is for new D4:

D4204T14
4-Cyl, Twin Turbo Diesel
16v
1969cc
190bhp @ 4250rpm
400Nm @ 1720-2500rpm
Manual: M66D
GT: AW TG-81SC

Performance & Engine Data Man/Aut
0-62: 7.4 / 7.2s
Topspeed: 230/230km/h (143mph)
Avg: 4.4l/100km (64mpg)
EURO 6 (both man/aut)

Engine data below is for new T5:

B4204T11
4-Cyl, Turbo
16v
1969cc
245bhp @ 5500rpm
350Nm @ 1500-4800rpm
GT: AW TG-81SC

Performance & Engine Data Auto
0-62: 6.9s
Topspeed: 240km/h (150mph)

Impressive numbers if you ask me :)

T5 with manual transmission.

Maybe someone can tell me why there is no manual box offered with the T5?

Don.

impressive figures.....suppose they need to be competing with the german Twin turbos for sales and market share etc etc.

I'm glad we have the 2.0 D5 - i love the sound it makes more than anything else.

Oh dear Lord, WHY?

The 18s were truly terrible on the v40 r design I drove. What on earth possesses them to make it yet worse?

I added (later) that these wheels are optional factory fitted wheels. The R-Design still comes with 17" as standard.

Re the ride, our R-Design has the 17" wheels and I find it to hard. Back breaking! However, I would still not hesitate in getting the 19" as I do not believe it would make much of a difference on this model.... it's either hard or hard!

Assuming the CO2s come out in the region the press releases have been talking about the V40 D4 is going to be flying off the shelves to fleets. When you compare it against the Golf/A3 it blows the doors off them.

Any news on when they're starting to take orders?

I would assume now. Next week is week 16 and the production starts week 20 and I doubt you would have a car made to spec within a 4 week period. Would be highly unusual, at least in my experience (we waited 9 weeks for our D4 in 2013).

In reply to Don I guess Volvo don't fit a manual to the T5 is because there is now so little demand in the countries where petrol engines are still popular. Don't forget even Ferrari aren't offering manual gearboxes on their latest cars

It's also worth pointing out that modern auto boxes are so much more advanced than their slow, whirry ancestors often containing a limited number of ratios. These days, autos are as or more efficient than their manual cousins, have more ratios and the option of reverting to a manual change with paddles when you want to have fun.
