Impact damage

Hello and thank you for reading this message.

I was the first to hit a newly blown out lorry tyre in the middle of the motorway yesterday evening. No possibility to avoid it. It hit front between middle and near side. There's various damage to front trim, fog light smashed so removed, and a piece of plastic fell off from underneath this morning on inspection. There also seems to be a vertical split in a small horizontal metal rim next to the nearside front fog light where the lower front trim would fit on.

No computer warnings. No leaks under car after 10 hours standing overnight.

What's your view on extent of damage? Does anyone know what the plastic vent box is tat fell off this morning from underneath front near side? Pictured in one of the photos, front right of photo. Photos can be seen at following link:

Thank you for looking.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune, I often see these parts of tyres sitting around on motorways and think about the dangers - Looks like you got away quite lightly.

It might be best to visit a scrap yard for the parts, I think the black plastic box is an air dam (smoothes air flow) that later goes onward to the air filter, but someone who knows your car will be able to confirm.

Hello.

Whilst on the forum again, more info that after repair it got to summer and the a/c was not working. The impact had also ruptured the a/c condenser unit front middle bottom. Insurer agreed to do work.

To be fair, our V50 condenser has gone so many times (4) that I reckon a stray wasp at speed would rupture it. Worst bit of automotive engineering on the car.
