2018 XC60 Inscription door chrome tarnished

The chrome strips on the bottom of the doors are tarnished. The car is less than 2 years old. I clean it regularly. Do members know of the best way to clean and protect them?
The car is garaged 95% of the time and has only done 7600 miles.
Has anybody got the same problem? Other plastic/chrome items on the car are ok. It doesn't seem right. Maybe there was a problem when the decals were made originally?
Any comment would be welcome.

Is the tarnishing similar to what Matt @Carwow experienced with his long termer? See

He got it sorted under warranty

Williemaykit - thanks for your reply. Do you know what the reason for the problem was?
See photo of my trim.

For what its worth my V90 has similar defect on the chrome window trim. I have raised it with the dealership when next in for service to investigate and hopefully replace under warranty.

Tarnished window trims 2018 Volvo XC60 Inscription Pro T5

I have a 2018 Volvo XC60 T5 Inscription Pro and the window trim has gone all tarnished almost white in some places. I use snow foam to wash my car and wash it off once i have sponged it. I went to the dealer and they said it was the products I use. I told them that I have used these products for years on other cars and this has not occurred once. Anyway, I have called Volvo Support and have explained what is going on. They have photos so now it's a waiting game.

I have had this on my car, a spray of WD40 and a bit of elbow grease polishes it out. It usually happens in winter when rock salt is used on the roads.

It is the harsh chemicals in some types of "Traffic Film Remover " also the acidic alloy wheel cleaner will cause the nickel plating to corrode on the Brake callipers . Has a garage ever washed the car for you ?

I bought a 2020 S60 inscription ex demonstrator from my local dealer last year, it was a Selekt used that came from Sunderland, before they ordered it I said “it won’t have any marks will it?” they said because it is a Selekt used care any marks would be rectified, it had these marks on the trim, Volvo would not replace under warranty, dealer tried to clean them but just took the clear coat off the top. it was not a big deal, but because of the way the dealer dealt with it I will not set foot in my local dealer again after 34 years of loyalty, I must admit Volvo were not interested and very dismissive so my be my last Volvo as well.
I hope you have a better outcome.
