Coolant Smell
 

Hi . I have a relatively new to me high mileage v50 1.6 from 2010. 200k mls

Today I noticed the coolant smells like paint thinners/white spirits.

I replaced the injector seals last week, cleaned the intake etc and had the egr off and did not notice anything strange about the coolant .

I topped the system up with prestone green.

car drove better than it used to,

now seems really strange also looks like the coolant bottle cracked accross the top and is a little like it burst upwards... I think I would have noticed this if it was old damage..

help...
