You and me both. Its my son and any of his friends in the car that worries me

Who can you claim against for faulty goods?

Your claim could be against:

the retailer under the Sale of Goods Act;
the manufacturer (under the terms of a guarantee if you have one);
a credit company if financed by credit (see ‘Your Rights when Buying on credit’ leaflet); or
the credit card company (see ‘Your Rights when Buying on credit’ leaflet).

Hi 4wheeldriver - copied and pasted from another site.

I was trying to draw your attention to the fact that as your car is dangerous this also entitles you to approach the manufacturer direct under The Dangerous Goods Act. So when safety is compromised, your sale of contract with Doves does not affect to whom you approach to sort this out i.e. Doves or Volvo.

Volvo aren't intersted Miss. Im fed up speaking to them about it and getting told that my contract of sale is with Doves so Volvo wont get involved!! ive a solicitor writing to the dealership to see what that brings!!

All I know is that once the legal stuff is over Im going to every paper in Britain about how Volvo can produce their famously "safe" cars and telling EVERYBODY just how bad my one has been!!!! I intend to leave them with out a name in the UK!!

Hi 4WheelDriver.

I know Volvo aren't interested (or Dove's) - personally I think it's bloody disgraceful and unintelligent of them to treat customers this way.

However, you have every right to approach Volvo themselves. Sadly it sounds as though they're just trying to fob you off in the hopes you go away.

Good luck

Fight, fight and fight some more! I make documentaries if you pay my expenses to London I'll do some filming for you if its of interest :D

4wheeldriver Mar 4th, 2009 21:42

You should maybe consider making this whole saga into a documentary!!! its been thoroughly disgusting the whole sorry state of the way they both just keep passing the buck or just plain refusing to take calls!! The Sales manager at Doves is plain ignorant as he doesnt return calls or emails unless prompted to. The girl at Volvo promised to call me back at half 10 this morning. Had to phone her at 3. Promised another cal back before 5. Still waiting. Took SEVEN days, SIX calls from me and TWO calls from Volvo before sales manager called me back initially. THATS the level of customer care involved at Doves. Mind you the 2 of them are as bad as each other. Volvo are in MAJOR CYA mode now and trying to keep themselves distanced from it as far as possible. Wont even acknowledge that they have any responsibilty for building the car in a dangerous condition. Whole things disgusted me with Volvo after buying 5 cars from them.

alexx Mar 4th, 2009 21:47

Its mind boggling that people can pass the buck like this and hope you'll bugger off.

Volvo made the car... what bigger responsibility can they possibly have !
Doves sold you a car thats clearly dodge and on a daily basis is falling apart !
Your lifes been in danger by the sounds of it via the faulty car !
Missold because it was aparently new yet it had been sitting around for ages ?

Worse case scenario I'd see how many much spreaders £22000 can get you and slurry all volvo main dealerships :D

4wheeldriver Mar 4th, 2009 22:08

It was also supposed to be an MY09 model and turned out to be an 08. Told you it would make a good documentary. either that or a F***king great comedy lol
