“fan” washer nozzles - are they adjustable?
Thought I'd stick this in here as I believe these are common to a number of models.
I've just emptied out the remainder of a bottle of washer fluid (as I'm weird about mixing brands) on the drive by activating the jets, and noticed that as well as spraying a reasonable amount over the roof of the car, they also are far too wide, resulting in water about 3 feet either side of the car. Problem is I can't see anyway of adjusting them, am I missing it or is there not one? |
You don't really use them whilst stationary, as they are set up to spray the top of the windscreen and the sides whilst moving.

Forgot to write:
When you are moving, the wind will force the water spray downwards... |
on my S60, the main windscreen washer jets land pretty much entirely on the windscreen, but the headlight washer jets are pretty awful for anyone driving behind me as they generate an awfully big cloud of spray which goes straight behind the car.
I suppose this is normal...But every time I use my washers I feel tremendous guilt for soaking the person behind me. |

At 30 etc its obviously worse. Bit of a minor annoyance, but wanted to check I wasn't missing anything obvious. |
I suspect that if you 'gently poke' a piece of suitable fuse wire, paper clip or the like in the jet nozzle hole that you can adjust the position of the spray on the screen ..... at least you can with a 23 year old Volvo!!

Know what you mean! My favourite place for using the washers is on exit from the car park at work, which has a few seconds' straight roll down to the road at 5-10mph. Used here, I find the headlight washers are actually more effective at getting water on the windscreen than the fan washer jets. You get a good all-over drizzle, twice, whereas the fan jets just don't seem to put that much water out. Is that just my car, or are the fan jets pretty feeble on others too? |
my fan jets are good the windsceen gets a good soaking all over, the strange thing is when i use the rear washer the front ones work for a second at first.
