Running Problem
 

Hi I recently purchased 2006 V70 D4. Beautiful condition but there is a problem. Driving the engines seems a bit noisy a lot tappet noise and a bit rough! On occasions having parked up done a bit of shopping I start up and once I get going it is a different engine runs much quieter and wow it wants to go. Fantastic! Next day back to feeling rough again. The engine ticks over superb but occasionally there is a change in the tone? Anybody got any ideas what this could be before I go into replacing things? As no one has replied yet you will see that there are a few sections devoted to the V70 and it might be worth a post in the section beginning 'S80 (98 -06).....
As this is a (relatively) new model I think that for running problems you will be pointed in the direction of computer code readers, as I have an older model this is beyond my experience, but if you have any holiday time coming up try typing 'volvo vida' in the search box.
It might also be useful to have a selection of computers plus operating systems to hand ....
ps - I see that cheshired5 supplies them, so at least you would be sure of getting support if required...
