240 doors
Will the doors from a 240 saloon fit on a 144 saloon
|
Aside from the early 140 doors, I believe so. That said it may only work upto 240s of a certain age (electric windows, bolt positions) 1975 to about 1985?

In the late 140/early 240 days although the basic door sheet-metal and framework was more or less the same (but check out door handle cut-out sizes which did change around those years) be aware that the lock/latch mechanism did chance. I had lots of hole-slotting to do when changing rear doors on my 74 144 to those from a '76 244.
Morale: don't buy blind - try to get both doors side-by-side so you can see the catch and fixing bolt differences. Possibly not worth the engineering work involved even if the actual door is identical. Paul VOC 140 series registrar |
flush handle 140 doors are fairly easy to come by on ebay - there's a few on there at the moment....I think you may still be able to buy them new but they cost a fortune of course.

Yes they will fit.
Like Paul wrote not directly, don't try the later ones, they are more heavy because of side impact protection. The 144 doors are with seperate window frames, the 244 are with fixed ones. Regard, Kay |
The door B post design changed too, as did the lock positions

you can use 240 from upto around 1980, late (flush door handle) 140 and all 240 doors have the side impact bar fitted.
On my 145 I will be changing the pillars for late 240 ones and use late 240 doors because I have them |
I converted 240 doors to fit my 164. It can be done, but it's a lot of work. We welded the latch section of the 164 door into the 240 door
