Get a bluetooth/wi-fi OBD2 reader and an app such as Car Scanner and you can monitor DPF temperature, soot level, and pressure.
Also useful to monitor coolant, oil, and ATF temperatures.

cheers, that's a good idea i do have vida but would be easier to check a check on it for a few weeks with a mobile scanner

Did you get the SOOT FILTER FULL Message ?

Most unusual to get DPF problems on the D5 unless there is another underlying issue. Almost unheard of.

Unless you've been doing the school run only for years and years, I'd check over for faulty injectors and boost leaks.

exactly yes , that's why I asked about the soot filter message ... a very robust system and you should get warnings well before it is damaged .

I’ve just bought the car and got ripped off by a dealer , my own fault I bought it with the soot filter full message on the dash , I had travelled about a 100 miles to get the car so I foolishly negotiated a discount and took it thinking it would regen on the way home but it didn’t, Vida said just over 34g of soot , dpf has now been professionally cleaned ,car has only done 2k over the last year so maybe that’s why, now wondering if I should replace the pressure sensor just in case.
