1980 343 lights & fusebox wiring
Hello , i have lost the constant 12 volt feed at the light switch on the yellow wire . I cant find a diagram anywhere regarding the fuse box multiplugs as this is where i think the problem is . It has been fine for 40 years ...
must be 1980 or maybe 1979 not 1981 which is different Thanks from Clan |
Just run a wire from another secure 12 volt source. Who’s going to be checking?

The feed to the light switch comes from the fusebox via the centre white multiplug under the dash ... The centre Lucar connector in the row of five flat ones ..., it had overheated . I simply removed the terminal from the white connector block . cut it off and crimped a new terminal to the wire. All OK This might help someone else with the same problem in the future . There is a serious shortage of wiring diagrams for the pre 1980 300 models . Goodness knows about the 1976 models , they were a mystery back when they were new ! |
as a footnote ,
the 343 fusebox up to 1981 when they changed it is a very high quality inside being hard wired rather than the later crimped metal Bus bars sealed in a plastic casing so if you have the early fuse box your fault is most unlikely to be within the fuse box... |
I am looking at the wiring diagrams that I have in Dutch (76-90) and in english (only have 79) but the only yellow wire I come across is from fuse 6 in the fusebox to the LHS headlight. Can you perhaps tell me which contactnumber on the switch you were measuring of?

The light switch is as 240 on my 1980 343 . The feed to the light switch comes from the fusebox (yellow wire ) via the centre white multiplug on the rear of the fusebox under the dash ... The centre Lucar connector in the row of five flat ones ... the 1979 should be the same as mine ( 79 being when they introduced the "Volvo" type black dashboard .) |
