My grandfathers lovely 460, that has been with the family from new is now with a very highly rated coachworks group who are now stripping the bent panels as we speak. They hope to plasma cut a square out the chassis leg and beat it back to where it needs to be, if not my donor vehicle will have the chassis leg removed from that.
they estimate 2 weeks and £1500 top estimate so far without knowing what extra damage has been done. the rest of the body still lines up and the door shut lines are still good. in the meantime i battle on with insurance who are seeking a full refund of £400 (they held onto the £350 excess due to this) because the other party are denying the liability and are saying they have paid me off in full. I have only received £110 cash and he has ignored calls and texts since that moment which is why i made the claim. I have a receipt for the parts i have bought and that will be submitted as evidence to go against his word. I have also sent them the text messages and the call log from my phone showing the amount of rejected calls. fingers crossed that side of things goes well. Now, I am planning on swapping the door cards and the electric wing mirrors, window motors into my car. the remote central locking will be transferred across as well as the rear axle with disk brakes. that is all for now :) the garage will supply pictures as the repair work is carried out, so watch this space :) |
Sorry to hear you are still having such a battle with the insurance, but really pleased to hear you are getting her repaired. She'll be good as new in no time...look forward to seeing how things progress.

Today they are looking to straighten the chassis leg, the panels iv given them are under-way with paint stripping and primer.
they found the radiator has been punctured and the horn no longer works. I will be supplying those tomorrow. |

Popped round today, to see how its getting on and to show them how to start it.
The chassis is all straight and both the wings are back om. She looks wonderful and shell be ready to pick up Friday :) dead chuffed with the work carried out. |

ALLL FIXED WOOOOOOO
She has been picked up and dropped off at her storage base, She needs a wash because she's a little dusty from the other cars being sanded down. Ill take pictures later :) She passed her MoT this morning with just a lumpy idle advisory and will just need a VIC check before she can go back onto the road as a fully legal vehicle. There was a small problem that could not be fixed by the garage, the bonnet hinge it doesnt shut properly on the drivers side, the bonnet pushed down into place but springs back up giving an ill fitting shut line... could someone take a look for me? I know the hinges are welded onto the car -_- the bonnett strust is goosed though and they think it might be that which is not giving the pressure to push the hinge back into place?? fog lights are fitted, just needs the wiring loom put into place and plug them in :) well chuffed next job - wooly steering and lazy power steering motor. #1 in BKV here we come ;) ps there where 3 other volvos in there, none of you lot saw mine being fixed to high standards and popped yours in there?? |
