V40 Bonnet replacement - and other common shared parts
 

Hi everyone, my name is Tom, I am new to the forum as a friend and I have just purchased a project V40 2002 1.9TDI. For a charity rally through Europe this summer.

We got it cheap, it needs some work, but we're looking forward to the challenge! It also came with full service history, now at 163,000 miles.

We've had a bit of fun in it today having just picked it up, and we are sooo excited! We love our Ovlov already!

The bonnet needs replacing as it's been bent out of shape somehow. I was wondering whether any other cars out of the volvo range share the same bonnet? E.g. S40, v50 etc. To give us a better chance of finding one in the correct colour.

And now that we are on the topic, I'm generally interested in any parts from this car that might present on any other models. I look forward to your responses!

The S40 and V40 of that year are the same but the V50 is completely different.

Would that have been the one from a garage near Moreton in Marsh?
If it is from the photos that were on ebay? i would just push the dent out as best as you can and straighten the bonnet. Then cover with a sticker since you're using it for a rally.

It was indeed the V40 from Cotswold Garage in Moreton-in-Marsh. It needed a good few repairs to get through an MOT, but got us to Barcelona and back, to Scotland and back and to a few festivals and back.

It's now at the bottom of a pile in a scrapyard as we unfortunately had nowhere to store it for breaking, and was certainly past it's use-by date (it basically fell apart in the end)
