Flash lube kit needed or not ???
SOMETIME SOON I WILL BE INSTALLING A LPG SYSTEM ON MY 940 2.3ti , IS A FLASH LUBE KIT REALLY NEEDED, I THOUGHT WITH HARDENED VALVE SEATS IT WAS NOT REQUIRED,

Well its really your choice.
Being a very high mileage 240 estate I've had exhaust valve burnt because of the greater heat generation. But this was at 350k miles. I put a rebuilt head on, they said do want inserts, and as I thought that all Volo heads were hard, I said no. That head lasted 20K. I would say a 940, as late model RWD Volvo it will have hard inserts so unless you propose to do 300k+ you should be OK. There is information on this site which will inform you when hard engines were introduced, all to do with leaded/ unleaded petrol. Remember LPG lub. is not cheep and it needs to be adjusted between 0-flood, though this is easy. BrianH 240GL 1989 720K miles. Converted at 150K |
On reblocks I do not bother, done 100,000 miles+ on LPG on many engine with zero valve seat wear
