New alarm with existing central locking

Hi don't know if this has been mentioned already but here goes I have a Volvo 850 1996 petrol 2.5 non turbo estate the car comes with factory alarm and immobiliser and central locking but I don't have the key fob so I've gone out and bought a hawk alarm with immobiliser and central locking but not using the immobiliser part as the cars factory immobiliser still works now the issue is with the central locking under the steering wheel Dash bored there is a multipoint connector x 2 I have located the switch wires for the central locking and when tested they didn't work but I did notice that on the same whiteboard connector when I removed the red connector from the whiteboard the locking went down and all doors locked now the alarm and can then operate the central locking with this red pin disconnected with the new alarm but my rear brake lights rear indicators and reverse lights don't work but when connected back up again I have all my rear lights working again but the central locking won't work on the new alarm key fob but it does work on the key can anyone help with this issue whether I'm connecting it to the wrong wires or whether there is a wire that I need to cut or a fuse I need to pull has anyone come across this issue before any reply would be welcome

Easiest way out of your dilemma would be to replace the central locking unit with a known good one with 2 fobs from a breaker - takes about 15 minutes at most to do the swap - you don't need to recode keys as the fobs are coded to the central locking unit and will swap from one car to another without a problem.

Thank you tried to locate the central locking unit behind the dashboard where the glove boxes is but doesn't seem to be situated there any ideas of where else they hid it

The locking control unit is located on the right hand side in UK cars - it is a black "box" located on a bracket from which it will slide off easily - it is directly above the accelerator - see post 8 here
