No idea tbh mate, but I've pulled away slowly from a BMW 330CI that I was in front of and he was giving it the beans! Those BMWs have a 3L straight 6 @ 230hp so I would say a T4 would probably perform the same against a Type-R especially as they have 200hp and are N/A.

Turbo always wins against N/A IMO. As soon as it spools up you get the power with turbos. the BMW had to work right up the rev range to get his power.

Also, a good friend of mine owns a BMW 330CI and thought the T4 felt more 'aggressive' than his. I've also noticed in his car it's pretty sluggish upto around 4.5k+ revs, then the bulk of the power kicks in.

For the record my T4 is standard :)

T4 = 1255kg
Civic = 1204kg

Not that much of a difference....

If it was the first model type r there 199bhp and have revvy engines there not that quick to be honest ive seen them leave the lights racing

civic is brisk but catch him off the vtec and you'll a spec in the distance.

T4 has one advantage...torque :)

tommy t4 Aug 24th, 2012 07:49

Standard for standard defo t4, turbo torque all the way. But I only race type r with mods to t4 and battered it.

T4Rick Aug 24th, 2012 09:18

The mk2 type r is surposed to have more power

puntodan Aug 24th, 2012 10:57

Phase 1 type r is better round corners than the phase 2 but not much in power terms. T4 might just have the edge when on boost but as said catch it out of Vtec and you'll be away!
