Anyone know this car?

Hello folks. I'm planning on travelling to view this car at the weekend, I was wondering before I possibly waste my time if anyone has had any dealings with the chap? Any info or advice would be lovely.

How much!

Don't forget new MOT rules coming in, smoke = a major fail and the advert says smoke on start up.
Although I'm no mechanic so don't know if that will apply to that age car.

It's the same idiot in Ayrshire who tried to sell similar overpriced crap a couple of years ago: Gold plated 940 diesel for sale! (Not mine)

Some of the description is identical. Still hasn't mastered basic picture taking. It's at least £2000 too expensive.

Well, Nigel is 64 years old. I also get stuck behind old drivers and my MPG drops. Boom! :D

Yes it is. 11+ seconds to 60 mph when new.

Just out of interest what engine is in it? Is this the Audi engine or is it a Volvo diesel? I don’t know much about these older ones. I’m not looking to buy and certainly not at that price just curious about the engine haha

It is a Volkswagen engine fitted/from in the 1st generation LT van, don't think it was ever fitted in a Volkswagen or Audi car.

Jon.

I don't know the car, but I'd say it's... optimistically priced... especially given the mileage and low-ish spec (no A/C, cloth trim etc).

In addition, if I were paying the best part of £4k for a 940 I'd expect it to not have a damaged tail-light.

I'm a big fan of the D24T engined 740/940s. I use mine ('90 740) a lot for long runs and it's capable and comfortable.

D24s do often give a small puff of smoke on startup.

Won't be a problem for MOT, as with all diesels it only needs to pass the smoke test (which is not done at startup but using revs and off-load).

That said, it appears to have had the EGR removed - which will soon be an MOT fail if I understand correctly...

A truly extraordinary price. You might consider paying that for a nice 240 with half the miles, or for a really original one-owner 940 with a five-figure mileage.

New MOT law for smoke is if it has a DPF and there is smoke it fails, no DPF not a fail.
