360 transmission swap

I'm getting bored of all these T5 posts :)

http://www.bigfishcafe.freeserve.co.uk/360-240.jpg

poor picture I know, but the eagle eyed amoungst you will have notice that this truly butchered 360 has trailing arm rear suspension! that (and the article in swedish i managed to vaguely translate!) means it has the transmission from a 240....and a mere 315BHP from a 2.3 16v BIG turbo motor.

My question is simple: How was this transmission swap done? new suspension mountings added? does anyone have a spare garage in Torbay....?!

cheers

James

RE: 360 transmission swap

its a case of welding in new suspension mountings to accept 240 running gear . its a method used by a lot of people converting FWD cars to RWD . Are you sure it uses a rear axle of a 240 , the gearbox would have to be urated in that power state anyway .

RE: 360 transmission swap

i believe they swapped the whole lot - gearbox, axle, and they ditched the torque tube (wahey!). if you can decipher swedish the address is: http://www.trm.nu/Cars/Cars360_Swe.htm
This was pointed out to me on another forum, where a swede said he thought that axle number (1031 or something) featured a limited slip diff.

There has been fair bit of interest in your work Dave - particularly the wings, etc for 300s - look under 'forums / other models' @ www.volvospy.com

How dodgy is fitting new suspension mountings? are they as tough as the old ones? i guess it depends on how well they are welded, and where...! how much is that sort of work likely to cost?

i know i seem to talk about this sort of thing a lot, and do very little, but i am planning for when i have that double garage :)

cheers
