wire in steering wheel
Hi guys,
i need to get wire (constant 12v) to a steering wheel any idea how i can manage it, best would be if i leave also the horny button :) |

Normal Horn wiring is that the wire coming up Steering Shaft is a grounding wire at Horn Switch to activate Horns. If you want to run an addition wire with power to your Steering Wheel for something which needs continuous power, there is no reason why you couldn't route a second wire up from Steering Box, around Hardy-coupler and to St Wheel...just make certain it is properly fused. hmm thats interesting, i need extra wire there because want to make heated steering wheel. so need to look in this option.

...I just use gloves when its that cold...
...besides, a wire for that purpose needs to carry high current in order to make any kind of wattage around the wheel that would make any noticeable difference, so it would have to be a 12ga, and there is not really room for one that big...also, I advise against adding such a high load with the oe 30A Bosch Generator based Charging System... |
its easy to change all those things so i dont worry about charging, more how to get wire there :)

Not the best "look" but a wheel cover during coldest months. Be prepared to lose some street cred.

Likely easier to use heated gloves. See your local motorcycle shop.
Sheepskins for the seats, warm in winter and cool in summer. |
I recently ran a new wire up the tube and it was a thick one to give it rigidity.
It goes up quite easily until you are half way up the shaft where there is a restriction. If you keep wriggling you should get it past there but another way is to thread a stiff wire down from the top and then solder your wire to it and pull it up. |
