Is the Walbro GSS342 the correct fuel pump?

I want to replace the fuel pump in my 00' C70 2.3 T5.

I understand that the Walbro GSS342 (255lph) is the common fuel pump used amongst the 850 owners for replacement and especially when tuning.

Before I order one up, can anyone advise are any differences or modifications required that I may not be aware of for either part or fitting between the 850 and the ME7 C70 T5?

That's the part I've had written down for months, recommended by Tim Williams. Cannot answer the question regarding modifications.

I wouldn't bother if you don't need the added fuel pressure. I had a 2nd hand one in mine which lasted a few years before failing. Replaced that with a brand new genuine walbro one which lasted about a year before randomly failing on me - AA man hit the top of it which got it going to get me home.... Replaced that with a bosch one which has been spot on.

If you are swapping the fuel pump I would highly recommend getting another pump housing so you can fit the new pump into it so that when you come to do the swap it will be quicker - from memory the main reason for this is that the securing ring and threads on the tank can expand/contract over time so if hours go by you may find you can't refit the locking ring. It also minimises the stink of petrol and risk of fire. You will also want to get a new seal for the pump housing.

If you are upgrading the wiring then you will want a decent gauge 12v+ from the battery, a suitable relay (halfords do one with a built in fuse) and you will need to wire it to connect to the existing pump wire to get the signal from the car to activate the relay to then allow the better feed from the battery - diagrams are available on the internet. You can earth it using one of the bolts for the pump cover plate.
