sluggish when cold
hi all.. 2003 V70 D5 163 ......when i first run the car, it it totally gutless until the turbo comes in then its off like the clappers... its like i put it into gear and if i pull away gently, it drives as normal, but if i floor it... its a good 3ish seconds of building up revs till the turbo kicks in at about 2500 then whoosh...
its only when cold but it did it today 10/10/2018 and its 23'c outside. could it be that the glowplugs are not working? once the engines warn, it runs as normal TIA.. Al. |

Some repeated gentle and progressive acceleration from around 1500 rpm in 3rd and 4th gear to around 4000 rpm on a warm engine should start to free it up. If limp mode is triggered, pull over, restart the engine and keep trying. |
turbo was replaced about 3 months ago and it was stripped and cleaned before it was fitted..
could it clog up in such a short time? and deffo no limp mode. if it is stiff, would putting the hand held vacuum pump on it and actuating it a few times do the same job si? |

would a old, clogged diesel filter cause the same problem si ? |

If you can't 100% vouch for the filter though, it's a cheap thing to eliminate and never a bad thing to renew. What your problem definitely isn't though is glow plugs but with winter coming, you do want them functioning. |
just tested the plug and two are oc and the other three are 0.5-0.6ohm
