Interior & Exterior Led Upgrades
 

I searched the forum for some led mod threads and couldn't find anyone. Then I decided to create my own. Hope to see some participation.

You need two types of leds for complete interior and basic exterior (no head&tail lights and blinkers) upgrades which are "wedge base" and "festoon". The long one is festoon and the more bulbish one is wedge base.

You will also need a torks allen set and a pry master set (not really necessary but comes handy).

I first started with exterior mods, license plate lights. There are two festoon bulbs and covers are attached with torx screws and very easy to remove. Below are some comparison shots of stock and led bulbs.

Next part was puddle lights. Its not easy to replace those lights. First you need to remove the mirror glass and then using a screwdriver you need to release light housing. Then you can change wedge base lamps.

Then i switched to interior, luggage compartment. Its really easy to change festoon bulb on tailgate.

Then i moved to back seats' reading lights, it was also peace of cake to change two wedge base lamps. For comparison I left one stock bulb unchanged.

There is one festoon bulb in glove department and its also very easy to replace this bulb.

Finally I moved to front seats map lights. Using some of the tools in pry master set I couldn't even separate the lamp enclosure and upholstery an inch. So I really need some advice on how to remove lamp enclosure below.

Finally for the leds you can visit http://www.superbrightleds.com/ and go to vehicle bulb finder for XC60 compatible leds.

It would be great if you could list each led you used for each application.

I used "3610-x4: 4 LED Festoon Bulb-3610-NW4: Natural White" for licence plate, tailgate and glove department, used "WLED-xHP5: LED T10 Wedge Base Bulb-WLED-WHP5: Natural White" for mirrors and rear set reading lamps.

you can consider buying other types of festoons because x4 is a little shorter than stock bulb.
3610-x4: 36 mm length, 10mm radius, 5 lumens

here are some options;
3910-x6: 39 mm length, 10mm radius, 9 lumens
3710-xHPx - 37.90 mm lenght, 10 mm radius, 36 lumens (High Performance LED)

Good post Tolga, LED's are a very good and usually very easy enhancement to any car.

I've not yet got around to doing my T6 yet, but I've done several previous cars using products from this supplier in the USA. The LED's he sells are far superior to the junk you find all over Ebay:

Are there any compatability issues with the CAN bus wiring system?

One question that arises to me is how these affect the monitoring systems within the car. The resistance presented by LED is very different from incandescent bulbs and as a result the current draw will also be different (much lower).

I am aware that some people are having issues when a trailer is fitted with LEDs due to the different characteristics of these bulbs and I wonder if the same challenges will apply here?

I presume that no errors have shown in the dashboard, but are any errors being indicated and recorded within the diagnostics systems that Volvo will find when the read the OBD?

They do look pretty on the pictures though :)
