Size of wheels on XC90

Hi all
New the this forum. After some advise please
Have recently purchase 2012 xc90
Need to get a couple of new tyres and currently searching but the tyres that are on are 235/60/r18
When I check online giving the reg details it lists a totally different size
Stating 255/50r19
Can anyone explain if this is ok with the 235/60/r18
Also can anyone suggest a reasonable brand of tyre, I will be also towing a caravan
Currently has continental on front and salum on back but it’s the fronts that need changing

Many thanks in advance
Jay

In a word, NO. You cannot fit a 19" tyre to an 18" rim. What's happened is the 'online checker' has probably referenced the standard wheel site for your car, but it was optioned differently at purchase. So, for my car, an 18" wheel is standard, but I optioned down to 17".
I suggest you search for the exact 235/60/R18 and see what comes up. It is a very common size.
As for brands, it depends whether you want to pay 'Premium' or not.
Some have recommended the Michelin Latitude Cross.

Hi Nigel
Thank you for your reply
Apologies it should have read 18 and not 19 but I get the gist regarding the options

I don’t want to pay massive amounts for the tyres as it is the wife’s car and probably does no more than 8k per year mileage wise but as said I do have to take into consideration a twin axle caravan to pull a few times a year.
Apart from when we use the caravan the majority of mileage is a lot of short journeys as my wife is a mobile hairdresser
So really I want something reasonabley decent that won’t cost the earth

235/60 r 18 Is the most commonly fitted size to XC90’s in this country: 255/55r19 were fitted to some of the higher spec models such as the executives etc, but there is no guarantee that 𝚈our Car is fitted with the wheels that were on it when it was new.
There is a long thread about XC90 tyres in the XC90 part of this forum, with almost as many different recommendations as there are answers, but I can only speak from experience.
I found that the originally fitted Pirelli’s were not very good and have been using Nokian WR2 winter tyres for several years now and have found them to be superb all rounders.
There are usually some good deals to be had on Nokians on the on line suppliers such as Black Circles or Tyreleader.

I have General grabber GT's on the back of my 19in wheels and they seem quiet good for money,

I had pirelli scorpions on my 18in wheels which were great before swopping them for continental winter tyres which i'm not massively impressed with,
