Hi to the forum

Hello Forum,
New member from Spalding Linc.
I've got a 240 estate K reg.Had it in the family for 20 years. It's just developed a problem with the heater blower. It's stopped all together this morning.Checked all the electrics that I can ,but it's looking more and more like the moter itself. So how hard is it to replace .And how do I go about it.Any help would be grateful

Welcome to the forum.

I have not changed a heater motor, yet. But please see:

It's a good thread about replacing the heater motor. Unfortunately the picture hosting site seeme to have withdrawn the pictures. But the words are all still there in the thread.

Mine went on my 240GLT and its been 3-4 years now unfixed. You do get a bit of natural convection of warmth but not much from 30mph. A weekend job apparently!

I still have my 1989 240 GLT auto but now use a 940 SE turbo more as a everyday car. The 940 has a working heater and now working AC.

Glad you have joined us - but why has it taken you 20 years?!
I took that entire fan blower assembly out of a scrap car a few months back - and it is a right pain! Took over two hours as all the dash lower fittings have to come out: mind you I'm a novice d-i-y-er and didn't want to let that part go to the scrapyard.
We needed it to replace a burnt-out motor on a friends car, and I never got involved with changing his so can't advise on that part.
Good luck and watch for graunched knuckles!

Hi Bizzie...i"ve done this job twice on my bus..if you"re a methodical practical chap its very doable..take pictures as you progress and label everything..its more of an awkward job than technically demanding..most of all take your time..plus dont put a second hand motor back in..buy a new one (hence why i"ve done it twice)..good luck and keep us posted..hj.

Argh, only just seen this thread. Stupid photobucket has changed its rules. I will try to upload the pictures to another hosting site and update my thread accordingly.
