Radio not working
For the past few days the radio had been cutting out and has now stopped working. The pic of an xc comes up with surround sound message then goes off after a few secs. Means parking sensors aren’t working either 🙆🏻*♂️ Had anyone encountered this? It’s heading into body shop tomorrow after a shunt in the rear so any tips be great as he’ Need to check sensors when repaired. Thanks in advance 👍

Hi,
Suggest you simply remove the icm and get it to Volvo diagnostics. They will check out and perform a guaranteed repair. Speak to lucasz. Volvodiagnostic.com This is a very common issue on our older xc90's and caused by dry joints on the icm head unit. Extremes of heat from car heating can cause this. Lucasz will do a great job, he did for me. Cheers, hope this helps and good luck getting your shunt sorted! |

No clicks etc just cut sound for few days at times and now no radio function at all. It’s at body shop for the next week or so. Local independent specialist has diagnostics maybe try him then, was just wanting check in here incase simple fix i could have sorted myself 👍

How's is the condition of the battery ? Had the same problem with my XC90, battery was on its last legs ( original 15 years old!), kept getting low battery warnings. Got around to putting a new battery on and never had radio problems again.

try having the AC on with full heat for a good 15 minutes, then restart the engine. works on mine (until i can be bothered to take it out and send it off for repair) keep smiling |
Battery?
Hiya, I had the same symptoms last winter- the week before the battery died. Been fine ever since.

Cheers, ac on full doesn’t seem to help. It’s been doing it around a month now so if battery was on last legs I’d guess it would have gone by now with this cold spell. Got the number of local Volvo guy going to contact him. Boot lock has stopped working too this week 🤦*♂️

When you say “boot lock has stopped working” is it the lock or opening mechanism? If it’s just that you can’t open it try easing the ‘flap’ back with a screwdriver - mine gets stuck frequently (06XC90)

yup, mine has its moments as well. my solution is to relock the car then push it back (it gets out of sync) things it needs lube. then i just unlock again and voila its opens first time
