Here we have for sale additional protection\cover for VOLVO 2.4D and D5 engines

Why do I need one?
Additional cover will protect your engine from expensive repairs or write-off due to aux belt\air-con belt snapping and wrapping around timing belt and damaging engine.

Does my engine needs one?
Cars with 2.4D and D5 engines till year 2012 would benefit from this. After model year 2012 timing belt cover design has changed and there is no need for extra protection.

Which cars\engines will it fit?
S80, V70, XC60, XC70 with 2.4D and D5 engines 2007-2012 (???)

GBP 55 inc. tracked delivery. Bit expensive due to this item is not manafactured, but hand made by one person, which lives abroad (postage costs).

Quick update: Appologies, but this should be added to first post earlier on.
To be able to tell if this protection guard/kit will fit your D5, you will need to jack up your car, take wheel and plastic inner arch off and look for following:
There have to be 2 bolt holes into your engine block on left from you and 1 smaller bolt on right hand side, which holds timing belt cover.
If you can't see 2 holes on left hand side of your engine block -IT WILL NOT FIT.

What's it made from? Have you done any research to prove that it works? Aux belts can be quite violent when they snap.

Made of metal. It works. Fitted to my D5.

My poverty spec Bergen spanners are made of metal, as are my Snap On spanners. They both work, but I wouldn't even think of putting pressure on the Bergen spanners. It would have to be very good quality metal, otherwise the part you are selling could ironically become the part that actually takes the timing belt out.

There is no way this could happen. I think you don't understand how it works. I will post more pictures and instructions how to do this, so it's better to understand. I am not pushing people to purchase anything - at the end of day it's your car and choice.
So far it's been fitted to many cars, some been using this addon for 3+ years and there is reason why it's been invented.

I understand the theory of how it's supposed to work, but you haven't provided any evidence that it does what you say it does. Do you have any proof that it has successfully prevented an aux belt from taking out a timing belt on a D5? I'm not having a dig at you here. I'm trying to acertain whether this is a theoretical idea that is still unproven, or a legitimate fully functional and approved method for timing belt protection.

I was thinking that too , if you are taking good money from people it really does need to be proved , When the aux belt does snap the damage is all over in 1/2 second and there are massive forces involved , enough to rip off the cam belt tensioner from the block rendering the block scrap . this bracket could easily be ripped straight off .

The definitive answer is to change the belts and idlers ...

Would people be patient and I will post more info on this, as atm I can not edit my posts for some reason. And this is not any money making scheme. I do not make any money on this, apart from beer money for my effort and time I spend. Nor do I produce or make them. This is here to help forum members. I been there and know how it feels. Sadly this is where it goes atm - slagging me off :(

If you think GBP 55 is too much comparing to new engine or head, that's the way it be then...

Nobody is slagging you off. In theory it's a great idea, but changing your belts and tensioners when they're due is the best way to ensure that the aux belt doesn't snap and take out the timing belt.. £55 for a small piece of metal and a couple of screws is expensive, but if it was proven that it will definitely prevent the timing belt from getting taken out by a snapped aux belt, it would possibly be a good investment.
