Here we have for sale additional protection\cover for VOLVO 2.4D and D5 engines
Why do I need one? Additional cover will protect your engine from expensive repairs or write-off due to aux belt\air-con belt snapping and wrapping around timing belt and damaging engine. To be able to tell if this protection guard/kit will fit your D5, you will need to jack up your car, take wheel and plastic inner arch off and look for following: There have to be 2 bolt holes into your engine block on left from you and 1 smaller bolt on right hand side, which holds timing belt cover. What's it made from? Have you done any research to prove that it works? Aux belts can be quite violent when they snap.

My poverty spec Bergen spanners are made of metal, as are my Snap On spanners. They both work, but I wouldn't even think of putting pressure on the Bergen spanners. It would have to be very good quality metal, otherwise the part you are selling could ironically become the part that actually takes the timing belt out.

I understand the theory of how it's supposed to work, but you haven't provided any evidence that it does what you say it does. Do you have any proof that it has successfully prevented an aux belt from taking out a timing belt on a D5? I'm not having a dig at you here. I'm trying to acertain whether this is a theoretical idea that is still unproven, or a legitimate fully functional and approved method for timing belt protection.

Would people be patient and I will post more info on this, as atm I can not edit my posts for some reason. And this is not any money making scheme. I do not make any money on this, apart from beer money for my effort and time I spend. Nor do I produce or make them. This is here to help forum members. I been there and know how it feels. Sadly this is where it goes atm - slagging me off :(

Nobody is slagging you off. In theory it's a great idea, but changing your belts and tensioners when they're due is the best way to ensure that the aux belt doesn't snap and take out the timing belt.. £55 for a small piece of metal and a couple of screws is expensive, but if it was proven that it will definitely prevent the timing belt from getting taken out by a snapped aux belt, it would possibly be a good investment.
