Looking for Wireless headphones for XC90 with single Volvo fitted DVD unit

Where to buy headphones for 2005 XC90
 

I could not find headphones for ages for a 2005 xc90 and at last after trying several volvo dealers and quotes of £150 each, i have found soem that work!

They are Panasonic RP-WF810 headphones purchased from Amazon for £28 - just tune them in and away you go!

How good are these panasonic headphones as the reviews on amazon are not that flattering. They will only be for the kids use so dont want to spend too much !

Is there much hissing in the earphones and was the tuning in straightforward. Can you re-charge the batteries easily?

I rushed into buying the following set but couldnt seem to get them to work -its only when they arrived with a transmitter I realised I had screwed up

They all come with a transmitter. What you want are ones that work with the tranmitter in your car. It'll be in the boot plugged into the DVD player.

Volvo supply the Panasonic headphones RP-WF810. So they think there good enough. I just bought a set. I'll let you know how they sound.

The batteries will be rechaged from the transmitter you get with the headphones so will need to be plugged into the mains. So as far as the car goes no would be the answer, as you'll have to charge the batteries out of the car or use ordinary batteries.

They came this morning and I've just tried them and I can't tell the difference in sound between the original Thompsons and the new Pansonic ones. I would say they took a bit of fiddeling with the tuner though to find the right spot, as it was possible to get reasonable sound and have background noise at the same time with some postions, so that may be why some people posting on Amazon said they had too much background noise.

My only compaint is that the volume and tuning dials are more protruding than the Thompsons so they could get knocked out of position more easily.

They do sit on the head nicly though and feel comfortable.

The headphones are exactly the same as the model I was offered at the main dealers for £52 two years ago. Why some are trying to sell them for £150 I don't know.

My bigest complaint is the LCD screens, I think they could be a lot better, at least as fitted in 2003. (its the first time I;ve sat in the back and looked at a DVD)

Thanks for the update -sounds like these might do the job then. One more question where is the tuning dial. I know the headphones have a channel A/B switch and a volume wheel - is there a tuning wheel on the earphone as well. As for tuning it in - is there a way of telling what frequency setting you choose ?

Channel A/B switch? Not on that model there isn't.

Yes there is a tuning dial on the headphone on the right side, Same as the Thompson.

No idea what the frequency is.

I have just bought 2004 XC90, but it only had one set of wireless headphones for the Volvo DVD player. I bought the Panasonic RP-WF810H headphones but can't get them to tune into the DVD player frequency - could somebody please give me an "idiots guide" to tuning them in ? Do I need to use the transmitter supplied with the headphones etc ? Many thanks for any assistance.

I take it you have one set of Thompsons that work OK?

Check the batteries are charged.

Turn on the DVD player and start playing a film

Check you can hear the sound with your existing Thompson headphones.

Turn them on. You'll see a little red light on the side.

Turn the little dial on the headphones marked tuning back and forth slowly. You may have to turn the volume dial up.

I hope this works for you.

It does look like you could swap out the transmitter if you want to, it is 12 volts, but it shouldn't be neccessary.
