Hand brake rear discs

hallo, on my osr hand brake the operating lever, which the cable hooks onto, is very stiff and will not pull off with the spring. A friend has spent many minutes working it back and forward but it still sticks on.
Question: could one drill through the back of the shaft in the calliper and fit a grease nipple?- old school but grease is good!

I'd strip it down and clean it all up with a wire brush/emery paper and brake cleaner reassemble with maybe a very thin smear of copper slip/similar.be very careful when using grease/copper slip/similar products near brakes so as not to get it on friction surfaces.

NO DO NOT drill shaft

Simplest method is to apply oil between lever & body , insert punch inside spring & tap gently , whilst a brave soul works lever . It takes time but does work , the tapping moves the pivot in & out of the body and drags the oil with it . This will slowly work the lube to where its needed .

A good old school mix is acetone & auto trans fluid 50/50 mix , this has workd where expensive cans have failed , especially on steel / alloy combinations . The acetone evaporates leaving the ATF behind .

Once you have freed off the pivot , use a ceramic grease as it withstands high temps very well Febi make one for coating common rail injectors & turbos
