Volvo 850
Hi everyone. I am new to this forum and this is my first posting. I need advice as to the value of a 1996 850 2 litre manual saloon that has come into my procession . It is in in virtually unmarked condition having covered 37800 miles. It has full service history and one owner from new. Every service invoice is present. I am unable to keep the car myself so would value any advice on its sale etc. This car is in wonderful condition.

Good place to put the details - what you'd be best to post up are
Actual registration no 2.0 or 2.5 and 10v or 20v leather or cloth MOT how much left Reg so someone can check the MOT online for previous pass/fail details Photos of inside and outside underbonnet and in boot 37800 miles, FSH & one owner from new is good, but the devil's in the detail so the more you provide the better you'll get as a response. Also as regards the 'come into my possession' are you a family person who's inherited a family car or are you a trader? |
Thanks for the info, which was very helpful. I will put some pics up, but can say that it is 2 litre, cloth interior, and is family inherited. I am not a trader. The reg No. is N 876 KMW.

MOT a history looks clean enough
Upload some pictures pointing out any faults, blemishes, wear and tear, service history timing belt changed etc. Be aware it’s not the top of the range T5 that demands high prices so don’t expect to get rich. I’ll start of with somewhere in the region of £1500 but I’m sure there will be others who think a lot less or a lot more https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/attac...1&d=1594658688 |
Based upon the above limited info, and assuming it is in a condition commensurate with its mileage (ie superb), with full main dealer history, then I'd say £1500-2000.
BUT the market for these is very limited - you're in the classic car market - and as its not one of the more desirable models, you may have to wait quite a while to get that kind of money. For a quick sale I'd say £1200-1500, even though WE know that'd be an absolute bargain. For the majority of potential buyers though, its just an old car. I'd stick it on https://www.carandclassic.co.uk at £2000 and see if anyone bites. Good luck with the sale |
Thanks for info.

All good advice there for you Roger rider - you can but try it on some of the other websites and see how you get on.
Set how long you're able to wait to see what offers you get and if nothing happens then get back on here. It's worth putting some pics on here too as quite often people when looking through sale posts that haven't closed (ie someone's actually said SOLD) will post up an enquiry. As already said, the car's not 'special' ie top sports, etc, but its condition and mileage may well tip the balance for someone. GLWTS |

2 litre and Saloon is about as desirable spec as a visit from the tax man.
£1200 if your lucky. |
