V70 2.4d 175bhp

Hi all, I have been to look at buying a 2010 v70 2.4 d 175 bhp. The car is in top condition with full main dealer service record mileage is 80,000 miles. My question is were these v70s fault free or were any issues I should know about. Any help much appreciated. Chris

I have a V70 SEL 2.4 Geartronic MY 2010. I bought it April 2013 as a 3 year old Volvo Selekt ex Volvo lease car with just 18000 miles. The car has now 55000 miles and been a good one so far. I have towed our caravans up and down to Spain each winter and around Europe each summer. For the winter trips the car would always be heavily loaded as well as towing 1500Kg. I'm just about to spend £500+ on having the wheels refurbished to bring the car back to showroom condition, because I plan to keep it forever.

I have the 175 D5 in a 2wd xc70.
I found having the polestar upgrade made a good tow car sublime.

In 4 years and 32,000 miles I have had 2 sensors fail, inlet pressure sensor and one of the exhaust pressure sensors, both at the same time and a bill for £420 at the dealer. I did have rear trailing arm bushes renewed at about 40k, this seems to be a regular job unless the modified Volvo bushes are fitted, mine were the modified ones and so far no problems. That apart it's been service items only.

The polestar gives you a little more power but a lot more torque, especially in the mid range, overtaking and towing where you are mainly in the mid range becomes effortless with it. You could live without it as it's not cheap but once you have it you'll wonder why you did without.

Paul.
