850 estate 2.0 glt MOT fail

Morning All
Is anyone interested in buying my MOT failed 850 estate, it is the 2.0 GLT with 200 000 miles up in Glasgow. Fail due to sills rotten and rear bumper bracket rotten. I need to move fast because the new tax is due friday 1st.
Am in contact with a breakers to see what I can get from that route. It may be of use to an enthusiast as it has been in regular use it's whole life.I am unable to keep it otherwise I would.
You can mail mrljstewarts at the gee mail dot com. Thanks

With winter tyres

I forgot to add, the car has 4 Nokian WR A3 tyres with approx 7000 miles use.

Hi,

Sorry to hear about your MOT fail. My 850 T-5 has been off the road two years now and I am really worried at it possibly having developed rot for when I get it looked at for its test. I’ve never really heard of one rotting before.

In the case of yours, do you have a registration number so that I can check all it failed on, possibly some pics, and a price as well? I’m based between the Isle of Bute and Glasgow. If the car does not sell as one, would you be interested in selling some parts before it goes?

Thanks,

Joseph

Bits

Hello Joseph, sorry for only getting back to you now. The car looked overall good, except rear bumper sagged. Only when i looked did i see bumper brackets rusted off, the bumper was not secured to the frame and suspended by the surrounding plastic covers.Sills were again cosmetically good from outside but i looked underneath the plastic door sill and the Sill had rusted through. Only apparent when you pulled the plastic cover. The car was scrapped to Carntyne vehicle dismantlers, i was sorry to scrap it as these are such good cars. They are so spacious inside yet modern cars seem to dwarf it, yet be smaller inside. Vehicle reg n757lud.

Hi Lindsok,

I should have perhaps messaged directly, I am located on the Isle of Bute but I am in Glasgow virtually every week as I have elderly grandparents I visit and help to care for. My own 850 T-5 has sat here for over two years larked ip, and I’m really dreading to think what the underside looks like, it will be a resto job, but I really want to keep the car.
Is that the breakers beside Westburn Pub? If so I know it well, I’ll give them a phone to see if it’s still there, and if so I’ll buy some parts off it.

Best wishes,
Joseph
