opinions V70 2.5 T ??
Hello , seasons greetings . Last time I had a Volvo it was a bangornomics 340 hatchback and I had a few of those for buttons .
Due to extremely unfortunate family circumstances I have been offered my sisters Volvo 2008, 6 speed manual , 2.5 petrol V70. Its only done 40k miles , she paid a lot for it but the garage only offering my parents 3.5. I have driven it and its excellent . Obviously its not the best on fuel , its extremely well equipped and a bit OTT for my needs. I wonder if anyone has this kind of car here (lots of info on the diesels but not much on this petrol turbo from my internet searching). Is it a very costly car to maintain, good reliability etc and what are the things to look out for ? its got a full service history up to last year when due to circumstances it missed a service but drove very little... The engine is basically the same engine thats in the focus st and smaller platform T5 volvo's
As long as there serviced they don't seem to cause many issues |
£520-£535 road tax, though..

I got 305 on road tax calculator...the 'geartronic one is higher? Still not cheap!

The fuel economy will be crap, but the engine is very reliable. Keep the oil changed regularly and it'll go on forever. Cambelt is easy to change (needs doing at 96k).
The V70 is a heavy car mind.... do not expect more than 24mpg average. |
Some light on tax:https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showt...=276223&page=3

Some 2.5T manuals (but not all) fall into band K which is £305, rather than band L (£520).
Check the V5 document! |

So is it dependent on year (pre 2006/after2006) or not, after all?
