Hi there,

Can anyone tell me what this is? it's on the pipe that comes from the air filter. it's leaking oil.

It is just a breather pipe , you will find it is a loose fit ... find a narrow ( 7 mm wide ) hose clip and put it around the pipe coming out of the main large air inlet pipe . Do not over tighten as the pipe is hard plastic .

Thanks - seems a lot of oil though? The car only just had a full Volvo service - shouldn't they have spotted this? I happened to notice as my mother is complaining of an intermittent power loss so I was just checking for loose/broken pipes etc.

It's oily mist from the breather system , nothing to worry about ... most are stained to some extent . A hose clip should reduce it greatly or stop it all together , it never causes a running problem .
