Mystery button

1 Attachment(s)
Just changed my C70 for a P3 XC70.

It has a button on the centre console, and I cant find it anywhere in the manual, so can someone tell me what it does.

It on the bottom row between the parking sensor and seat tilt buttons. It looks like a headlight with an arrow to the left and right.

Tried pressing it and nothing much happened!

Thanks for the help.

Might that turn the active bending headlights on/off? That or maybe the button turns on the self drive feature :-)

Thanks everyone.

Just found it buried away on page 78.

Nothing so grand as the explanation in 4x4's manual though!

Anyway, why would you want to turn the feature off??

Perhaps driving abroad?

Just because they drive on the other side of the road doesn't mean their roads bend in opposite direction to the UK :).

I think Volvo agree with you because in later years this button has disappeared!

On the contrary. The button has just moved, or rather exists in disguise.

On my 2012 XC70, which has a different center console layout, there's no button in the console for ABL.
But there are settings for activating/deactivating the function at two different places in the menu system. In addition to that, if I drive with the headlight switch in the "on" position, the lights work normally with ABL active. If I instead drive with the switch in the 0 position, the lights work the same, but ABL is deactivated.

Good to know. My XC60 has this arrangement. The headlight main beam works in both the 'on' and 'off' positions (different' to the XC70 which only works in the 'on' position). Couldn't understand what the switch was for.
