whats your MPG figures?

right, because im gonna be using the car for hefty mileage ive decided before LPG comes along, to find out what my round town, and extra urban mpgs are

soooooo

fill tank up, do a pile of miles around town, top the tank back up and divide the amount of gallons by the amount of miles achieved

result, 28 MPG

not bad for a 1986 740 2.3 with carb!

extra urban results coming this afternoon! although on a previous run to cardiff it managed the 120 miles there on quarter of a tank! so results shall be promising! keep your eyes peeled!

Ranges from 14 to 21 depending on how much i use the turbo.

25-30mpg dependant on the curvature of the earth and which phase the moon is in at the time.(or just the mood she's in at the time to be honest)

It doesnt relate to how many berries are being squashed at the time either. The car chose a range of consumption and is sticking to it, changing entirely dependant on what mood it's in. The little minx.

Part of the reason for selling my 1987 740 2.3 GLE auto estate late last year was town (Lampeter) driving returning 15mpg; on a run up to, say, Papworth (200+ miles, good operating temp) the car would return 34mpg.

my point of view is I have an engine with 250bhp. Now if I baby it, I can get 21-22mpg. If i thrash it, I get 14 but a huge grin on my face and a lot of other embarrassed drivers.

Running about in the 12's in mine now, glad i do so little mileage in mine, looks like i'll have used only one tank all this month.

Bought it in Doncaster, came home to North Kent via Nottingham and Wheaton Aston (near Birmingham) - nearly 37MPG.

Local running - about 25
