2007 D5 185, battery type?
Hi All
The trusty D5 keeps going (can't find anything to replace it), but the battery is fading. I thinks it's an 019, can someone please confirm, thanks, |
What does it say on the one you have.

The figures on the top are 580 01 12V 80 AH 800 A (EN), Banner, https://www.bannerbatterien.com/en-g...M/3-AGM-580-01
I'm 99% certain that I need an 019, with 017 being a cheaper, less powerful alternative. |
Iv'e heard these are good https://www.tayna.co.uk/car-batteries/varta/h3/# but Iv'e never had one.Compare any you look at to a genuine one from Volvo dealer,at least they last 10 + years

Right after replacing the battery, I'd recommend to keep measuring it just to make sure the alternator is charging properly and there's no parasitic drain.

Thanks for the replies. My wallet can stop panicking (hopefully), insecure clamp to the positive battery post, tightened it up and all appears well.

Just in case you find your battery is fubared buddy I have a battery going spare in the shed as I recently had a charging issue with my S80 D5
I bought a new battery and some time later discovered the fault lay with the alternator after all so needn’t have replaced the battery I’m not too far from London It’ll be cheap but you’ll have to come over and collect it as it’s too heavy to make it a commercial viability for you Regards Chris |
Varta are indeed pretty much as good as it gets, Bosch equally as they are exactly the same batteries (varta make them, bosch stickers and extra premium).
Tayna are heartily recommended, best prices, good customer service. As above, check charging first, if the terminal fix isnt the cure! |
Remember to reset the vehicles low voltage counter using VIDA
The low voltage counter is a useful indicator to determine how often a battery has gone too flat and useful for diagnosis |
What tag is the low voltage counter rest under?
Thanks. |
