2004 Volvo V40 1.9D Sport Estate

115 BHP 1.9 turbo diesel with the Volvo manual gearbox. Very low mileage with only 79,363 miles (at present but may rise) and full service history, inc. Volvo main dealers until 2016. Serviced by myself last year at 76k with Mobil 1 fully synthetic oil and quality Mann parts. Titanium grey metallic bodywork is in good condition and full beige leather interior, with 'cyborg' aluminium effect trim, is immaculate. Mechanically this must be one of the most sorted V40s out there and should want for nothing. MOT until 29/05/2018, the last two having no advisories. Work over the past two years including:

• New Sachs front springs with genuine Volvo top mounts fitted a month ago (I believe rear springs were replaced prior to my ownership).
• New Halfords battery two months ago.
• New Volvo discs and pads all around.
• Two new rear calipers.
• Front headlights fixed and re-assembled to sort excessively dipped low beam. All front bulbs, bar the indicator bulbs replaced including new Xenon bulbs.
• Genuine timing belt kit inc. pulley(s) and drive belt.

Specification:
• 16" Galactica alloy wheels with Pirelli winter tyres.
• Xenon sport headlamps (with recent new bulbs!)
• Front splitter, rear spoiler, clear side lights & sport grille.
• Front fog lights and headlamp wash/wipe.
• Roof rails.
• Electric windows x4 with rear over-ride.
• Remote central locking with two working fobs.
• Trip computer.
• Electronic climate control with air conditioning. Air con works great however fan speed is occasionally erratic. I'm very fussy when it comes to cars and this hasn't particularly bothered me.
• Heated front seats.
• Electric and heated front wing mirrors.
• Lots of airbags (front/passenger and I think also SIPS side air bags).
• ABS
• Genuine volvo rubber mats.
• Volvo sub-woofer in boot.
• Load net and strap in boot!
• Fully working load cover.
• Will come with Volvo CD/Radio.

I've put a fair chunk of time and money into this car because I planned it to be reliable long term commuter. However a change of job means that a diesel just isn't necessary. Price reflects condition and provenance.

That's precisely why I'm tempted. I'd get about 6 years out of yours! What's the corrosion like around the engine bay and underneath? Mine isn't worth protecting but a lower mileage one definitely would be.

It's a toss-up between buying another V40D, a second T4, and a C30. I'm not in a rush but I'd love a low mileage V40 to tide me over until I can figure out what to replace it with!

Been a little while since I've looked under it now, but underneath there is a surface rust as you would expect of a near 14 year old car. I'm not aware of any issues and neither has anything been flagged in any of the MOTs, so I'm pretty confident it is solid under there. I'm sure like any 40 series though, some additional protection would likely help! The engine bay is fine as far as I'm aware, maybe a bit of surface corrosion around the bonnet stops but that's about it.

I'd expect it would provide 6 years service with no bother.

Thanks, it's been a good car and I've enjoyed owning it! If it was petrol I'd keep it. I need to cut my cars down and it is hard to let this one go knowing it's likely the least hassle... but I'll be doing about 4k a year now all being well!
