Polyurethane front suspension bushes, made by me.

Hello!
I just mounted on the front suspension arms some PU bushes designed and think ed by me... :d The car feeling is extraordinary... superb. I just went into a testing on a forest road. Today, i changed just the bushes from the right, tomorrow i'll go to change them, on the left side too. The difference between PU bushes and the normal ones is very high. I don't know how to explain in words: on the side with PU bushes the car is hard and soft in the same time. I went with 70km/h on that forest road and no sounds, no vibration... full comfort. Much-much better... The steering is better... the brake is better. I'm curious how much this PU bushes will last and if this design is the right one. So, regarding the attached photos.... what do you think? Is this design good? Do you think that those bushes will last? :) |

I mounted the bushes on the left side too. Because of the different design choosed for the front left bush, the left suspension is much harder than on the right. On the right, i'm having medium-medium-hard suspension and on the left is hard-hard-very hard. Next time, i'll do it different. Anyway... the front suspension is not as hard as the back suspension, were i mounted yellow marked springs and high pressure gas shock absorbers. :d |

Those bushes came with some secondary effects: little noises, turned into bigger noises. I had to solve all the problems neglected before, but there is a good part in this: now i have all the front suspension, steering and engine mounts new... also front tires and alloys. Anyway, the car runs great. I'll wait the spring to upgrade for some more power... and possibly a kevlar clutch. ;) |
FWIW quite a few people use poly bushes on the suspension and engine mountings for the 850's. You might find some tips, comments etc from some people on that part of the forum. They might also have some ideas about the materials etc.

Sorry for this "thread-necrophilia", but it seems that Poly bushings for the 400 series have not become an industrial-manufactured reality yet ^^ Could you elaborate a little on how you made them, and if there have been any problems in the past few months?
I especially think about bringing the suspension arm down to bolt it to the shock absorber without bending the subframe, this is quite hard on my 480 even with standard bushings. |
