2008 C30 Engine System Service Urgent
I own a 2008 C30 1.6D, with around 172k on it. I bought it with 163k on it.
It has been running fine, but 3-4 months ago I filled it up with diesel (at a filling station I do not usually use) and the ‘engine system service urgent’ red warning triangle appeared. I have since drove 3-4,000 miles on it and it seems to be running fine with no issues. I have visited a couple of mechanics who can’t figure it out (I don’t think they can be bothered), but they did point out that when revving the car as it drops down to 1,000 revs the enginge shudders slightly. This is the only symptom I am aware of. The most recent mechanic plugged in the computer and got the following codes: 7700 - Engine Control Module (ECM) A610 - Additive Dosage Module (ADM), Faulty Signal A600 - Additive Dosage Module (ADM), Faulty Signal Although the car is running fine this is really frustrating and I seem to be getting nowhere. My MOT is also up in August so I want to have the issue resolved well before this. Any help and guidance will be greatly appreciated, I have terrible knowledge regarding cars and this is doing my head in!! Thanks in advance. |
I would say this has something to do with the additive tank, fluid level, sensor etc. Take it to a garage that can be bothered and pay for a proper diagnostic.
If the fluid is low you run the risk of the DPF blocking up and going into limp mode. Have googled the fault codes? |
Thanks for your reply! Do you reckon the issue with the DPF could be causing the error code related to the ECM?
I’ve tried googling it but could get no clear answers so thought I’d post on here. |
You are best biting the bullet and taking to a garage with proper diagnostics.
You could spend time and money unnecessarily without a full diagnosis being carried out. I work at a garage and see it all the time, seen it on the internet and changed this and that and still faulting. |
Ok so I had a shock changed today. The mechanic inspected the DPF and we realised that its has been cut into, and re-welded.
The mechanic assumes that the DPF may have been blocked and someone has went in and removed it. Is this something people do, and is it something that could be causing the error codes mentioned above? If so, I have been told that remapping the engine/taking the DPF out could fix this? |
A missing DPF or one that looks to have been tampered with is now MOT fail.

If I remap the car and get that system taken out will that suffice?
