'96 940 ecu?
My 940 has been off the road due to mysterious fault whereby ignition system appears all to be functional but the injectors are not "firing". Recently someone suggested an ECU (Bosch 0280000976) fault. Since these appear to be unavailable does anyone have recommendations for repair/checking?

976 is B230FT/FK no imobiliser
ECU faults are very rare. Is the fuel pump running? If not could be fuel pump relay causing the issue If ECU is the only thing you have left I am happy to test it for you |
Yes fuel pump is running (although I don't have pressure reading).
AA man (very good) checked out it out. He put a test device on the injector line and confirmed no "signal". All other bits of ignition OK. Yes ECU fault seems to be the last option? |
There are other things it could be but would be nice to either test the ECU or try another ecu to confirm

I still wouldn't trust someone who says they can't repair it.
As Dai says its the wrong ECU for a 96, but maybe its really a 95. Does the Engine have EGR or an internal OBDII socket? Can the injectors be driven directly, ie just grounding the big grey wire going to the ECU. Maybe there is a problem with the wiring or injectors. They are basically connect to 12V Via the radio suppression relay (which is just a relay used to isolate the electrical noise for the radio). You should get 12V at the injectors with ignition on, from this relay. Its a common fault, and you can just bypass it temporarily. Still assuming it is faulty it shouldn't be that hard to find another, try a breaker on ebay. |
